UPR Online - Brand & Website

UPR Online build web applications for non-profits and charities. The big idea behind UPR is they use an evidence-based approach, rooted in solid academic research, to develop their applications.

This year they've released uMeet; which is like a chatroom but designed specially for support and counselling. Very like a traditional face to face group, but online. uMeet is a fantastic application for non-profits and charities to extend their support services online, and has been getting some really great feedback since launching earlier this year. Of course its history goes back a good bit further than that, you can head over here to read more about it. They've also built uGive, a online fundraising application for non-profits and charities. Theres a website on the way for uGive but in the meantime you can find out more on the UPR site.

When it came to designing the UPR website and brand we knew we were going to have a tough time. Firstly, there was a lot of ethics and philosophy behind the company that had to be concisely communicated. Then there was all the activities they are involved in. Sure the big focus was on the web applications, but there was also the academic research and collaborations, the supplementary services; like CBT based interactive interventions, articles and case studies. Quite a bit to get across to someone visiting the website for the first time.

So we started off by focusing on what the core message of UPR is. Unconditional Positive Regard. This refers to the general idea that people are valuable and capable the way they are, but that they sometimes encounter hurdles that get in the way of them realising their full potential. This is fundamental to everything that UPR do, and shaped the approach and priority of what we designed for them.

What we ended up with was a fresh, spacious site, that had a lot of content but wasn't overladen. It had strong focus on UPR's primary products and also took time to tell the how and why behind them and the company. Visitors can navigate the site in different ways with a minimum of fuss and more information is always just click away. Judging from the feedback UPR have received and the stats to date, we'd say the site is a big success all round.

Recent note; since launching this website the feedback has been great and a lot has happened. We're working on some big updates at the moment so check it out again late September 09.
