Our work / Aware
Aware is a Dublin, Ireland based charity providing support for people suffering from depression. Depression is a condition that can take many forms, from short lived feelings of sadness that most people experience from time to time, right up to severe depressive disorders which require treatment and support.
The non-profit organisation has been continually striving to create an understanding of depression in society, where people with depression are supported, free from stigma, and have access to a broad range of appropriate therapies to enable them to reach their full potential.
Our challenge was to design a highly usable site, that would clearly highlight the organisation's services and strengths. To understand how we could engage potential service users, and lead visitors through the site, we sat down and created a comprehensive user needs analysis. The result of which allowed the design process to revolve around Aware's target audience, while accurately reflecting the many facets of the organisation.
Aware has really embraced the community enriching social media technologies available today, and the new website supports an ongoing strategy of online social networking and profile building to increase exposure of Aware and foster a growing user base that is open to, and benefits from, Aware’s services. We also packed the new website with a wealth of E-Commerce services and features, including a brand new online shop and a donations system.
As well as the website; Cubedroute, with it's sister company UPR, also integrated uGive, UPR's online fundraising web application, to allow Aware to run its many fundraising campaigns much more efficiently online. Aware have great plans for the next 12 months and at the moment are already discussing a new online support service provided by UPR through its uMeet technology.
Note: there have been a lot of changes to the Aware site since it was launched and as a result it doesn't really reflect the design that we delivered anymore.
Aware's mission is to create a society where people with depression and their families are understood and supported, are free from stigma and have access to a broad range of appropriate therapies to enable them to reach their full potential.
