Our sister company have just launched uMeet, their flagship product. uMeet is a web application for non-profit organisations. It’s like a chatroom but designed specially for support and counselling. Rather like a traditional face to face group, but online.
uMeet is a product long in the pipeline, with many years of development and real world experience behind it. Bodywhys, The Eating Disorder Association of Ireland, has been using it for well over a year now and before that pioneered an early version of the software since the late 1990's.
Jennifer Kelly, co-founder of UPR, is also a well known figure in the Irish charity world. She established Bodywhys in 1995 as a response to the lack of supports available to people affected by eating disorders, and has been working tirelessly since then on increasing awareness of mental health issues and support in Ireland. She was largely instrumental in offering the then unheard of online support service to Bodywhy's service users.
So it was out of this very real need that uMeet has its origins. You can read more about uMeet here.
